Education & Childcare

Childcare and educational opportunities for internationals in the Netherlands are broad and varied. This is why we cooperate with daycares, au pair agencies and schools that have international focus and which you, as an expat, might find suitable for your child. Amongst the rest of our Partners you will be able to find organisations that give general advice about the childcare and education of your child, provide pre-school and after-school activities and arrange Dutch courses (for adults too!).

It is more common these days to continue your higher education abroad. Many of our Partners also provide advice to adults with regards to the choice of their vocational or higher education.

Choosing childcare is one of the biggest decisions parents have to make.   At 2Samen we like to think that a visit to any of our locations will put your mind at rest. At the centre of everything we do, is respect for everyone’s individuality.  This is why at 2Samen every child is unique and special.  We provide a homely and nurturing environment for all children to thrive.  We help children develop themselves confident and independent. We help them conquer the big wide world, step by step.

2Samen offers mainly Dutch speaking professional daycare, after school care, playgroups and early childhood education and care (ECEC). We also have an English speaking playgroup and (almost) all of our information is available in English. We are proud to be a ‘home away from home’ for children in The Hague, Monster and Naaldwijk.

Our childcare services include:

  • Day nursery/daycare also known as creche and it is for children that do not attend school yet
  • Toddler care which can be a special toddler group, preschool/playgroup, day nursery or daycare
  • Out of school care which includes after school care, holiday care, before school care and lunch break care

American School of The Hague (ASH) is an international school located in Wassenaar, the Netherlands.

ASH offers a varied, comprehensive educational program that challenges students to excel in their learning and grow as creative, committed people of character. Their programs in athletics, performing arts, speech and debate, and their service clubs help students of all ages engage with the world outside of school as well.

ASH understands that starting a new learning journey can be challenging, especially for families relocating from overseas. Therefore, it offers a comprehensive transition program to help the new students, families, and staff in their adaptation to learning, working, and living in the Netherlands.

Wassenaar is a quiet village on the outskirts of The Hague and Leiden. Very near beaches and scenic dunes which provide an ideal background for learning, exploring and raising a family. Within short bike rides, you can be in The Hague, the center of government in the country and known as the International City of Peace and Justice, housing several international agencies, courts, and tribunals. It is also close to the university town of Leiden which offers multiple cultural and educational activities, in letters and sciences alike.

Amersfoort International School

As from school year 2023/2024, Amersfoort will have an international school for primary education: Amersfoort International School.

Amersfoort International School will offer English-medium international primary education for children from 4 to 12 years old. The school has already started the authorisation process for an international curriculum that aligns with our mission ‘Learning for all, to support our student’s journey and to enrich the community’.

We warmly welcome students of all nationalities, faiths, beliefs, and cultures. Our vision is to be a learning community based on inclusion and equal opportunities. With our international curriculum, we empower our students to develop themselves into internationally minded and successful learners in an ever changing world.

AIS will be accommodated in an attractive school building in close proximity to the historic centre of Amersfoort, a city in the middle of the Netherlands. Amersfoort is centrally located and the school is easily accessible by bike, public transport, and car. In the summer of 2023, the building will be renovated so that it reflects the vision and the programme of AIS. In addition, we are exploring a partnership for out-of-school care for our students and childcare for younger children.

Amersfoort International School will start with an internationally experienced and highly committed team. The school is part of KPOA, one of the largest educational organisations for primary education in Amersfoort and surrounding areas. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has granted a license which ensures that the school is subject to the quality supervision of the Dutch Inspectorate of Education and will be subsidised which will allow for affordable fees.
