I heard the government suggests having an emergency package. How do I get such a package?

In case of a digital attack, a power outage, or a running water and/or gas outage, it takes time before everything is up and working again. The government therefore suggests that every household should have an emergency package for 72 hours in order to be able to help yourself in any emergency situation.

A booklet has been distributed all over the Netherlands to inform people of what to do. You can download an English version of this booklet here.

The booklet tells you why it is important to be prepared, what you should put together in an emergency kit, and what your personal emergency plan should look like.

The government advises not to buy ready-to-use emergency kits, but to carefully look at what you already have and then see what you really need to buy. It is important to think about things such as the medication you need on a regular basis, any medical devices you depend on, and the requirements of your baby and pets. Your emergency kit and emergency plan should be based on your personal situation.

You can find more detailed information at a website from the government.
