FIGT (Families in Global Transition)
Relocation used to be confined to the diplomatic service, the military, and a few international organizations. Now a days the number of people moving internationally for work has drastically increased, which has led to more attention put on the effects of relocation on family members. Families in Global Transition (FIGT) is hence a welcoming forum for globally mobile individuals, families, and those working with them.
The first Families in Global Transition conference took place on May 16, 1998, and originated from a discussion around Ruth van Reken’s kitchen table the previous year. Since then, the conferences have grown and so has the reach with the aim always focused on bringing families affected by transitions and chaos to experts who could help them.
Their conferences bring people from across cultures and sectors: corporate, small business entrepreneurs, international schools, relocation, diplomacy, not for profit, academia, media and the arts. Their events involve a variety of presentations, workshops and interactive discussions.
