New timetable for the Dutch Railways includes many changes

For the first time in 10 years, the Dutch Railways is changing its timetable completely. The changes will come into force on Sunday 11 December 2016.

For most passengers, the train times change, and for many, it will be an improvement. It is expected that about 70,000 people will have shorter trips, usually by a few minutes. However, about 15,000 people will have to travel longer or transfer more often.

Timetables for buses, trams and metros will change as well in order to ensure good connections.

Because many of the changes are an improvement, the number of passengers will increase. It is expected that in 2017 there will be approximately 20,000 additional passengers a day who will travel by train.
