Fake letter from the Tax Authorities

You may receive a letter in a blue envelope that seems to be sent by the Tax Authorities. This letter tells you that you have to pay back money. In order to find out if a letter from the Tax Authorities is fake or not, it is best to login to: “mijn belastingdienst”  https://mijn.belastingdienst.nl/mbd-pmb/. There you can see if there is anything you need to pay.

 

What to do

If the letter you received is fake, please scan it and email the letter to valse-email@belastingdienst.nl. If you don’t have a scanner, you can send the original letter to:

If you have already paid, it is best to go to the police and report fraud. You can get practical help (e.g. with filling in forms) and/or emotional help by contacting:  Slachtofferhulp (Victim Support) via https://www.slachtofferhulp.nl/Contact/ or telephone 0900-0101.
